PAG vs PPG vs aluminium fan blades: which and when?
Material choice depends on temperature, humidity and vibration. A plain-language comparison of Multi-Wing materials.
PPG — light and economical
Glass reinforced polypropylene (PPG) is a light, economical choice for general HVAC and ventilation applications working between −30 and +90 °C.
PAG — strength and vibration resistance
Glass reinforced polyamide (PAG) offers high strength and vibration resistance from −60 to +120 °C. It is the most common material in gensets, off-highway machines and cold rooms. Variants include PAGV1 for low flammability, anti-static PAGAS for explosive atmospheres and carbon fibre reinforced PAG6-C for extreme conditions.
AL — high temperature
Aluminium blades work from −60 to +245 °C and are chosen for high-temperature drying. For tunnel ventilation and smoke extraction the AL 400C version, tested at 400 °C for 2 hours, is used.
Quick decision
If ambient stays below 90 °C and loads are light, choose PPG; with vibration, low temperature or mobile use, PAG; with high temperature, AL. If unsure, send us the material code from your current blade label.
