Powertrain Cooling Fan Blades
Multi Wing PMAX, one-piece fans and viscous clutches for engine cooling in construction machinery, tractors, hydraulics and gensets.
Cooling in powertrain systems
In excavators, loaders, dozers, tractors and gensets, the heat generated by the engine, transmission and hydraulics must be rejected through a compact cooling package. Because radiator, charge air cooler and oil coolers are stacked, the fan works against high pressure, and cramped inlet and outlet spaces disturb the airflow.
Here the fan blade does more than move air: it defines the engine’s limiting ambient temperature (LAT), the machine’s available power and the noise the operator is exposed to.
PMAX and one-piece fans
The PMAX family consists of high-pressure profiles developed for harsh off-highway conditions. It offers higher airflow and pressure at the same power draw, targeting up to 3 dB(A) lower noise and up to 18% less fan power. From PMAX3 to PMAX9 it covers diameters from 356 mm to 2,444 mm.
For high-volume agricultural and construction projects, the O-P1, O-PMAX2, O-PMAX3 and O-PMAX4 one-piece molded fans stand out with their light weight and viscous clutch compatibility.
Hydraulics and auxiliary systems
Oil coolers of hydraulic power units typically use compact H and Z series profiles (2H, 3H, 6H, 4Z, 6Z). In electric and hybrid machines, BLDC-driven DCmax™ fans minimise energy use with speed control and protect battery range.
Savings with a viscous clutch
Using a bi-metal or electronically controlled viscous clutch instead of fixing the fan rigidly to the engine matches fan speed to cooling demand. Fuel consumption and noise drop and engine warm-up time is shortened.
