Fan Blade Selection Guide
The six key parameters for choosing a Multi-Wing fan blade, how to read the product code, and a material comparison.
How to read a Multi-Wing product code
The label of a Multi-Wing impeller usually carries a code similar to the one below. Writing the full code in the note field of your quote list is the fastest way for us to identify the right product.
1. Diameter
The fan diameter follows the inner diameter of the shroud or venturi ring. The smaller the gap between blade tip and shroud (tip clearance), the higher the efficiency and the lower the noise. Since Multi-Wing profiles can be cut in 1 mm steps, a diameter that fits your shroud exactly can be produced.
2. Number of blades
More blades give more pressure capacity at the same diameter and speed. Modular hubs allow different blade counts; just tell us how many blades your current impeller has.
3. Profile
Airfoil profiles (e.g. 4Z, 6W) give high efficiency, sickle profiles (e.g. 1Z, 2W) low noise, PMAX profiles high pressure, reversible TR profiles reverse flow, and broad paddle profiles strong thrust at low speed.
4. Pitch angle
A higher pitch moves more air but draws more power from the motor. The right pitch depends on motor power and target duty point; never increase it arbitrarily, or the motor may be overloaded.
5. Rotation
Viewed from the air outlet side, impellers turning clockwise are right-hand (R) and those turning anticlockwise are left-hand (L). The L or R at the end of the profile code (e.g. 4ZL, 6WR) shows the rotation.
6. Material
Material is chosen by operating temperature, humidity, chemical exposure and flammability requirements. The table below compares Multi-Wing materials.
Material comparison
| Code | Material | Temperature range | Key feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| PPG | Glass reinforced polypropylene | −30 / +90 °C | Lightweight and durable; general HVAC and ventilation. |
| PAG | Glass reinforced polyamide | −60 / +120 °C | High strength and vibration resistance. |
| PAGV1 | Low-flammability polyamide | −60 / +120 °C | Rail and other low-flammability applications. |
| PAGAS | Anti-static glass reinforced polyamide | −60 / +120 °C | Potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX). |
| PAG6-C | Carbon fibre reinforced polyamide | −60 / +120 °C | Extreme operating conditions, anti-static. |
| AL | Aluminium | −60 / +245 °C | High-temperature drying applications. |
| AL 400C | Aluminium (400 °C) | 400 °C / 2 saat test | Tunnel ventilation and smoke extraction. |
